13 Nov Charitable Giving at the Irregardless Cafe
The vision of Irregardless Cafe & Catering has always included caring for others in our community. Here are just a few of the ways the Irregardless Cafe supports local nonprofits and charitable organizations which serve our community.
We donate unused restaurant and catering food to Interfaith Food Shuttle for distribution to local families in need–we were among the first restaurants to contribute food to Interfaith Food Shuttle’s food reclamation program. We often donate appreciation meals to staff at Urban Ministries, and are participating in the upcoming Stone Soup fundraiser by donating black bean soup topped with vegan pico de gallo.
In addition to regular charitable contributions, we host fundraisers for Triangle nonprofits such as Interfaith Food Shuttle, Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina and Triangle Family Services.
The owners of the Irregardless Cafe & Catering supports access to fresh, healthy food in our community by serving as a member on the boards of organizations such as the Center for Environmental Food Systems at NCSU, NC Community Garden Partners and the Wake County Food Policy Council. We also host free monthly discussions on a variety of topics around health and well-being through our Being Well Discussions.
Investing in alternative energy and reducing our carbon footprint is an important part of our business: we use solar power to heat our water and use compostable takeout containers that break down when discarded.
We believe in strong neighborhoods and support community gardening by sponsoring the Well Fed Community Garden as a source of local food for the Irregardless Cafe and the Athens Drive neighborhood. We also buy as much local produce and meat as possible from small local farmers who use organic and sustainable methods.
Irregardless Cafe has also lent support to many children’s organizations over the years, including Learning Together, Arts Together, Safe Child, and Community Music School, and Enloe Jazz Program.
This holiday season, we are raising money on behalf of the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina by inviting our diners to bring checks made out to the Food Bank when they join us for meals. Patrons may also speak to their server about donating via cash or check.
It’s only because of our supportive customers we are able to continue our charitable traditions. Thank you!
